Fitness in the Parks is a FREE exercise program that brings a variety of fitness opportunities within our parks and natural areas across Prince George’s County! We invite you to find the class that suits your fitness goals, and to come discover the benefits of exercising in nature. No registration required.

Benefits of Exercising Outdoors

Exercising outdoors provides an opportunity to be physically active in a constantly changing environment. Using your local park, running on a nearby trail or simply walking around your neighborhood are all great ways to meet your neighbors. While exercise can enhance your physical health, being connected with your community and having a number of positive relationships can help improve your mental health as well.

Some other benefits include:
  • It's good for your mind and your body.
  • It may make you feel better about yourself.
  • Outdoor fitness may be easier to stick with.
  • You get to soak up the sun.
